Selection of yearly verse 2008

If you were to make a list of times and events that have changed your life, what would make you list? This question I realize is most broad and you could take off toward any time period in your life to come up with your list. My focus is about your Christian life and from these steps of faith what moments have you recorded in your personal Christian history?
In my personal Christian life history I have been sharing yearly verses of scripture that I have been focusing on in an in-depth study over the course of a year. The year 2000 produce my life verse, Acts 4:12. This was the verse I used in praying in the Kentucky State House of Representatives that Kathy Stein resented and protested over, when I prayed in the name of Jesus. There is no other name, so that choice was easy to make in selecting that verse as my life verse. I am glad I waited the time I did; I learned a great lesson in patience and simply not rushing, even though I felt the pressure to have such a verse for a long time. A few years back I studied Ecclesiastes 3:1 and that scripture would make a great life verse choice. There are few days that pass that I don’t remember my learning that there really is a time for everything, and I have learned that scripture does means everything too.
II Corinthians 6:1 will be the verse for 2008. “We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that you receive not the grace of God in vain”. Over the years I have learned so much because of these simply choices of scripture and the time spent focusing on their meaning and application for my life.
This particular verse jumps out at me because of the thought that we “should not receive grace in vain”. From the statement in scripture I assume that folks do, and I don’t want to be one that takes grace in a granted form. The verse says that we are workers together, and I am thinking how many Christians really believe that we are to be workers together and practice that belief? From the look of things there are many churches and Christians that are out by themselves without any assistance from others of faith. I’m not sure all that this scripture is going to teach but I am ready to begin and see what truths I will learn and can write about just under a year from now when the year 2009 will be approaching and I will be repeating a selection and learning column again from my personal Christian life history.
As we begin 2008, I would suggest you think about a new rewarding experience you could embark upon, memorization of God’s word, focus on His thoughts which would help produce understanding of His plan and purpose for our lives.
Not sure if you are up for a real challenge or not, but I would strongly recommend a life changing event that will require some reading, some thought processing, and eye opening exposure to His way and not ours. Why not focus on a scripture, after all, what do you have to lose? It looks clear to me that there is nothing to lose, but everything to gain.

Until then
